About Condition of Kazakhstan's Insurance Sector as of 1 September 2025

As of 1 September 2025, insurance sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan is represented by 25 insurance companies, including 10 life insurance companies.

As of the end of August 2025, assets of (re)insurance companies rose by 2.9% to 3.7 trillion KZT (a 17.8% surge since early 2025), mainly due to growing insurance revenue and investments in securities.

As of 1 September 2025, securities accounted for the largest share of assets – 73.1% (2.7 trillion KZT), cash and deposits with second-tier banks – 6.9% (254 billion KZT) and insurance receivables – 4.6% (169 billion KZT).

Liabilities of (re)insurance companies grew by 2.6% in August 2025 to 2.6 trillion KZT (a 19.2% surge since the beginning of 2025).

Equity capital of (re)insurance companies went up by 3.7% in August 2025 to 1.1 trillion KZT, mainly due to growing net profit for the reporting period (a 14.4% increase since the beginning of 2025).

Net profit in the insurance market in August 2025 totaled 33.5 billion KZT (188.6 billion KZT since the beginning of 2025).

Number of insurance contracts signed with individuals and legal entities since the beginning of 2025 made 17.2 million contracts, a 16.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Life insurance contracts demonstrated the largest increase (107.9%).

Insurance premiums accepted under (re)insurance contracts totaled 146.3 billion KZT in August 2025. Since the beginning of 2025, insurance premiums have reached 1.1 trillion KZT, which is 14.9% more compared to the same period in 2024.

Voluntary property insurance classes are key drivers of the insurance premium growth. Insurance premiums for these classes totaled 47.4 billion KZT in August 2025 and 387.9 billion KZT since the beginning of 2025, a 19.1% increase year-on-year. This increase is primarily due to a 91.0% jump in the amount of collected insurance premiums from other financial loss insurance and a 14.7% increase in property damage insurance.

Voluntary personal insurance premiums for August 2025 made 73.4 billion KZT, and 542.2 billion KZT since the start of 2025, a 15.2% growth year-on-year. This increase is mainly attributed to a 10.9% increase in pension annuity insurance premiums to 227.5 billion KZT and a 19.3% expansion in life insurance premiums to 160.3 billion KZT.

Compulsory insurance premiums for August 2025 totaled 25.5 billion KZT, and since the beginning of 2025 it made 180.1 billion KZT, up by 5.9% compared to the same period last year. The increase was mainly connected with compulsory motor third-party liability insurance, which rose by 19.3% to 68.4 billion KZT.

Insurance payments for August 2025 totaled 37.0 billion KZT (under 130,800 payments). Since early 2025, insurance payments have totaled 282.0 billion KZT, a 39.0% growth year-on-year. This growth is mainly connected with a 59.7% surge in voluntary property insurance payments to 92.0 billion KZT.
